Highlights from Day 4 of LVP/LD/Fusion GOP Convention Poll

Earlier today Latino Decisions, Latino Victory Project, and Fusion released polling results assessing Latino voters’ responses to the last day of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland [Day 1 toplines here, Day 2 toplines here, Day 3 toplines here, and Day 4 toplines here].  These daily polls consist of Spanish and English online surveys of 300 registered Latino voters and have a margin of error of 5.6 percentage points.  Highlights from Day 4’s results are below.

Sheriff Joe (and the wall) to the rescue?

  • 81% responded that chants of “build the wall” during Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s speech was disturbing and encourages discrimination against immigrants and Latinos.
  • 76% reported that they would not feel comfortable being at the convention when the crowd was shouting, “build the wall.”
  • 76% do not think that building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico will stop drugs and violence in the United States.

The Republican National Convention sows feelings of division and alienation.

  • 72% responded that the convention made them feel unwanted in the Republican Party.
  • 78% do not think they have a lot in common with the GOP.
  • 85% think that the convention worsened Donald Trump’s and the Republicans’ image.
  • Just 19% think the Republican Party makes America more united.

Despite 4 days of Trump, still no love from Latino voters.

  • 89%, the highest share all week, do not love Trump.
  • 82% have an unfavorable or very unfavorable view of Trump.
  • Only 13% will vote for Trump, the lowest share all week.
