ICYMI: Recent Coverage of Latino Decisions Research & Insight

Latino Decisions’ senior staff and recent research has been a fixture on television, radio, and print media in recent weeks. In particular, firm co-founders Dr. Matt Barreto and Dr. Gary Segura have been busy with media appearances around the release of their new book, Latino America: How America’s Most Dynamic Population is Poised to Transform the Politics of the Nation. See below for recent media highlights:

  • Washington Examiner senior political columnist Tim Carney explored the Republican Party’s outreach to Latino voters in an October 8th column, noting, “A new book, Latino America, by social scientists Matt Barreto and Gary Segura, argues that Hispanics vote at much lower levels than other ethnic groups in part because they receive far less attention from politicos. Fewer than one-third of Hispanics say they have been contacted by a party or politician before an election, compared to nearly half of whites, according to the book.”
  • Additionally, Latino Decisions’ senior analyst David Damore publishes new analysis in the Washington Post exploring whether the White House’s announced delay in executive action on immigration will depress Latino turnout in 2014, highlighting recent Latino Decisions’ analysis of the topic.

About Latino America and its co-authors: Released on September 30th, Latino America: How America’s Most Dynamic Population is Poised to Transform the Politics of the Nation has been receiving rave reviews:

  • Publishers Weekly said, “Few demographic changes have exercised the American political mind as much as the inexorable rise of Latino America, and Barreto and Segura’s masterful work of social science is a clear and sober-minded analyses of this complex subject.”
  • Kirkus Reviews wrote, “A pertinent, useful study of significant trends in the American political landscape.”
